His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in Bangkok, Thailand this afternoon for the 34th ASEAN Summit which will be held on 22nd and 23rd June 2019.
Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival at Don Mueang Military Air Terminal, Bangkok, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by His Excellency Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.
Also present to greet His Majesty were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs; and His Excellency Haji Ismail bin Haji Abdul Manap, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Kingdom of Thailand.
His Majesty then received a floral garland from His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, before boarding a motorcade heading towards a renowned hotel in Bangkok, where His Majesty would reside throughout the duration of the 34th ASEAN Summit.
This year’s ASEAN Summit, which carries the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability,” reflects the host country’s vision of ASEAN as an association that further strengthens cooperation amongst ASEAN Member States as well as in safeguarding regional sustainability.
The 34th ASEAN Summit will gather the ASEAN Heads of State and Government in discussing dynamic and current matters for the well-being of communities.
