4 April 2021 - THE RIGHT HONOURABLE PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA AND SPOUSE, AND DELEGATION ARRIVE IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM FOR AN OFFICIAL VISIT AND THE 23RD ANNUAL LEADERS’ CONSULTATION BETWEEN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AND MALAYSIA

The Right Honourable Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the Prime Minister of Malaysia and spouse, Her Excellency Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman and delegation arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan for a two-day Official Visit and the 23rd Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.  
 
Present at the Brunei International Airport to welcome The Right Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia and spouse on arrival were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman.  
 
Also present to greet The Right Honourable and spouse were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs as Minister-in-Attendance, and Datin. 
 
Also present at the airport to welcome the Malaysian Delegation were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, and Pengiran Datin; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Pengiran Datin; Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, and Datin; and Puan Nadia Azura Mohd. Nudri, Charge d’Affaires of the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam. 
 
His Royal Highness, together with The Right Honourable, then proceeded to a Special Dais to receive the Salute of Honour, which was followed by the national anthems of both countries.   
 
The Right Honourable then inspected the Guard of Honour that was mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Land Forces, Royal Brunei Armed Forces. 
 
The Prime Minister of Malaysia was then introduced to Cabinet Ministers; Deputy Ministers; Commissioner of Police, the Royal Brunei Police Force; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and Foreign Envoys in Brunei Darussalam; as well as Permanent Secretaries at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 
 
The delegation includes Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs; as well as senior officials of the Government of Malaysia. 
 
During the Official Visit, The Right Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia and Her Excellency Puan Sri and delegation are expected to have an audience with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri at Istana Nurul Iman tomorrow, which will be followed with the 23rd Annual Leaders’ Consultation between the two leaders.  
 
The Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia was last held on 5th March 2019 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. This visit by Yang Amat Berhormat marks the first official visit by a foreign leader to Brunei Darussalam since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.
