Brunei Darussalam hosted the 1st BIMP-EAGA – China Ministerial Meeting on 26 November 2018. The Meeting was co-chaired by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs II of Brunei Darussalam.

Present during the meeting were H.E. Bobby Hamzar Rafinus, Senior Adviser to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs on Regional Development of Indonesia; H.E. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Minister of Economic Affairs of Malaysia; H.E. Datu Abul Khayr Alonto, Chairman of Mindanao Development Authority of the Philippines; H.E. Fu Ziying, China International Trade Representative (Ministerial Level) and Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China; and H.E. Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN.

The Meeting discussed the strengthening of cooperation between BIMP-EAGA and China. In this regard, the Meeting also adopted the document on “Enhancing the BIMP-EAGA China Cooperation”  which outlined the priority areas of cooperation between the two sides and tasked officials to develop a plan of action for the BIMP-EAGA and China cooperation.

The Meeting was held at the V Plaza Hotel in Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam.
