THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT
· Diplomatic relations were established on 2 May 198.
· His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam visited the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1984 (State Visit), 2004 (funeral of Yasser Arafat, former PLO leader, and 2013 (the 12th Islamic Summit Conference).
· Brunei Darussalam and the Arab Republic of Egypt signed the following MOUs/ Agreements:

MOU between UNISSA and Al – Azhar University (5 Dec 2010);

MOU between the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and Al – Azhar University (2010);

MOU between the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and Cairo University (1 May 2011);

MOU between UBD and Cairo University (1 May 2011);

MOU between the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and Alexandria University (2 May 2011);

MOU between UBD and Alexandria University (2 May 2011);

MOU between the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and Ain Shams University (4 May 2011);
-
MOU between UBD and Ain Shams University (4 May 2011);
-
MOU between the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and Al – Azhar University [Science and Cultural] (2012); and
-
MOU between UNISSA and Al – Azhar University (2014).
· The 1st Bilateral Consultative Meeting (BCM) between Brunei Darussalam and the Arab Republic of Egypt took place on 3 August 2006 in Bandar Seri Begawan.
